Kazakhstan demonstrated a twofold growth in the manufacturing industry in the first four months of 2024, reaching 105.2%, equivalent to 7.1 trillion tenge, reported Minister of Industry Kanat Sharlapayev at a government meeting.
Production indicators for the manufacturing sector showed significant growth during this period. From January to April 2024, the total production volume amounted to 7.1 trillion tenge, and exports reached $5.6 billion. Labor productivity was $52.7 thousand per person, reports Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"By the end of the year, 21 projects in the metallurgical sector are planned to be launched, creating over 4,700 new jobs," said Kanat Sharlapayev.
Among these projects are the TEMPO steel pipe manufacturing plant in the Karaganda region and the modernization of the QazAlPack aluminum packaging production in Shymkent.
The engineering sector also showed a 22% growth, with automobile production increasing by 8.6%. By 2028, the production of automobiles is forecasted to double, noted the minister.
To maintain the growth rate, 37 small industrial zones with a total area of 200 thousand square meters will be created in eight regions of Kazakhstan. 30 billion tenge has already been allocated for their construction. In total, 180 projects worth 1.5 trillion tenge will be implemented in 2024, including the production of truck parts, ceramic tiles, thermal insulation materials, ferrosilicon, and tungsten concentrate.
