Construction of an electrometallurgical plant has begun in Kazakhstan.

Railways Systems KZ has signed an agreement with the authorities of Pavlodar Region, according to the regional press center. The new metallurgical plant is planned for construction in the Ekibastuz Industrial Zone, covering an area of 100 hectares.

The total investment volume is estimated at 208 billion tenge, including borrowed funds. The enterprise is scheduled to open in 2028, with production expected to create over 1,000 new jobs.

Aigerim Kabyltaeva, Deputy Akim of Pavlodar Region, highlighted that this construction is a priority project in the region, aimed at creating advanced processing clusters. Railways Systems KZ plans to implement the project in partnership with one of the largest engineering companies in the EU, the name of which remains undisclosed.

The new plant will produce up to 1 million tons of high-tech steel annually, with approximately 40% of the output designated for export to the CIS and the European Union. Domestically, the steel products will be used in construction, energy, cement, and engineering industries.
